FOTD - Play On Drum V2

Hello lovelies!!!

How was your weekend? I hope you had a more interesting one than I had.

My weekend was spent studying for my upcoming CFA exam, which I know I am going to fail anyways. I am taking Wednesday - Friday off work to study for a paper I am going to fail, which is, in my opinion, such a waste of annual leave. After spending all weekend studying, I can now say I no longer miss uni life, at least not the studying part! Unfortunately, I have 2 years of studying to go (while working full time, may I add) when I start my CA next year, Oh, the life of an accountant. All these studying and stuff is making me having thoughts about what I really wanna do in life but I shall not bore you guys any further with my quarter life crisis "drama".

As mentioned in my  FOTW - Working Series #5 : Play On Drum post, I am going to share with you guys a more "complicated" look using MAC Mineralized Eyeshadow in Play On Drum.

TBH, it isn't really that much harder, its more like the other one is much easier.

On my EYES
ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer
KATE gel eyeshadow in BR-1 (as base)
MAC Mineralized Eyeshadow in Play on Drum
Light Pink from TheFaceShop Jewel Effect Duo (as highlight)
Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil in Hazelnut
Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Eyeliner
Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eyeliner Pencil in Brown
Loreal Voluminous Curved Brush Mascara in Black

I used the peachy colour as an over the lid colour and the copperish brown colour as a crease and outer V colour. I applied more product on my outer V to give the look a better dimension. :)
Also, my lid colour isn't as coral looking as my other FOTD because I used KATE Gel Eyeshadow in BR-1 (which is a champagne-copperish colour) as a base instead of MAC Coral Crepe Paint Pot.

On my FACE
Cancer Council Australia Tinted Moisturizer in Light Cream (Review coming soon! :P)
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Silky Beige
Garnier Anti Dark Circles Roll On in light
Maybelline Mineral Powder Naturally Luminous Blush in True Peach
Illamasqua Powdered Metal in Ether (as highlight)
Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset City (bronzer for contouring)

(This is pretty much my face routine everyday right now. I have been replacing BB Cream  with tinted moisturizer and I might use foundation on Friday if I know I am going to stay out after work. Also, Garnier Anti Dark Circles Roll seems to be able to cover my disgusting dark circles lately - just when I thought it did a pretty crap job previously)

On my LIPS
MAC Lipstick in Shy Girl

Look at the dewy finish my Illamasqua Powdered Metal gives me!! It definitely brightens up my otherwise sleepy looking face. :)

Have a great week ahead lovelies!!! :)

XOXO,
A

FOTW - WORKING SERIES #5 - PLAY ON DRUM

WHADDUP EVERYBODYYYY?

Hope you are having a great week so far. This week has been exceptionally slow for me for some reasons but I am glad its FINALLY FRIDAY and its Casual Friday! *YAY* This weekend is gonna be a hardcore cramming session for me though, which is kinda bummer now that Sydney's weather is perfect! Can't wait till my CFA exam is over then it's summer party time babyyyyyy!!! <3

I have been rather lazy this week and creativity is the last thing in my mind this week. Instead of my baby Naked Palette, I have been using my MAC Mineralized Eyeshadow in Play on Drum from Claire's Love Package. =P

Look at how pigmented the colours are! And the best thing about this look is, I only use 2 colours (excluding highlight) and it looks like I have put in heaps of effort when it takes less than 5 minutes! :)

Such a perfect spring/summer colour too!

On my EYES
ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer
MAC Coral Crepe Paint Pot
MAC Mineralized Eyeshadow in Play on Drum
NYX Nude Eyeshadow as highlight
Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil in Hazelnut
Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Eyeliner
Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eyeliner Pencil in Brown
Loreal Voluminous Curved Brush Mascara in Black

What I did was using the copperish brown colour as all over the lid colour and wing it out a lil using my flat eyeshadow brush. Then I use the peachy coloured eyeshadow with gold specks in it to blend away the harsh edges up to my crease area.

Also, my eyeshadows seldom crease and I barely use primer before this. But I have been using primer with creme shadow/paint pot lately because I hit the gym after work these days. Creased eye make up is not exactly what I want after a strenuous work out and I cbf remove them.

My current spring/summer favourite blush :
Maybelline Mineral Powder Naturally Luminous Blush in True Peach
Look at the pretty glow it gives and I was surprised with the awesome pigmentation considering that this is a mineral powder blush.

On my FACE
Cancer Council Australia Tinted Moisturizer in Light Cream (Review coming soon! :P)
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Silky Beige
Garnier Anti Dark Circles Roll On in light
Maybelline Mineral Powder Naturally Luminous Blush in True Peach
Illamasqua Powdered Metal in Ether (as highlight)
Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset City (bronzer for contouring)

On my LIPS
MAC Lipstick in Shy Girl

I hate my eyebrows now but there's nothing much I can do about it as I am trying to grow them out so I can get it done professionally!

Perfect easy on-the-go spring look! :)

I have been swapping my BB Cream with tinted moisturizer lately as the weather is getting warmer. For those who don't know, I am one who sweat easily and heaps (GROSS I know). The last thing I want is having a faceful of melting foundation when I am out - NOT.A.GOOD.SIGHT! I am learning to accept my freckles better these days :P

This is how I clip my hair up for work when I don't have them up =P

This is definitely my favourite eyelook atm as it is quick and easy! I did try the smokey-outer V look using the same eyeshadows, which requires a little more work. Stay tune for the next post for it :P

What's your favourite lazy days look?

ALSO,
I have created a Through Beauty Eyes Facebook Page a few days ago when I was procrastinating from studying!

Show some love please <33333

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to those who celebrates it! :)

XOXO,
A

FOTW - WORKING SERIES #4 - THE BRONZE HORSEMAN

Goodday! How was everyone's weekend? Its good to finally have some sunshine in Sydney after a pretty chilly week (for November that is). It was a pretty quiet one for me as I spent my Saturday recovering from a nasty hangover (when I didn't even have that much!) and hit the gym for some good work out session. I think its time to monitor my alcohol intake now that I am frequenting the gym more regularly, and apparently your alcohol tolerance decreases as your body built more muscles. Is it trueeeeeee?

ANYWAYS, I haven't posted any "Naked Palette" FOTD ever since I got that baby and I figured its about time. :)

This was the look I created last week using the naked palette. :)
Since its kinda bronzy and one of the colours I used is called Dark Horse, I decided to use The Bronze Horseman as my title. Don't judge me lol.

I haven't been wearing my circle lenses much lately except for the weekends as you're not supposed to wear them for long hours. And for me, from popping my contacts in the morning, getting ready, a whole day at work and gym after - thats a good 14 hours for me. I am pretty sure its not advisable to wear normal contacts for such long hours (14 hours a day, 5 days a week. You do the math), let alone my circle lenses.

On my EYES
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Urban Decay Naked Palette
- Side Car as all over the lids colour
- Dark Horse as outer corner crease colour
- Naked as inner crease colour
- Hustle as outer V colour
- Virgin as browbone colour
- Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Eyeliner in Black (Upper Lash Line)
- Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Whiskey (Lower Lash Line)
- Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil in Hazelnut
- Maybelline Colossal Waterproof Mascara in Black

On my FACE
Etude House Magic BB Cream
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Silky Beige
NYX Concealer in a Jar in Light
Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset City
Canmake Powder Cheeks Blusher in PW25
MAC MSF in Candlelight

On my LIPS
Cancer Council Australia Lipstick in Soft Pink (which is actually more of a nude colour)

I kinda like how the "messy" hair up do although it did take me quite a while to create this somewhat messy look.

Naked Palette is definitely my new found love!!!
With 12 different neutral colours, you can go creative with your look without having to be afraid of being to OTT. If you're going out after work or school, simply apply a bold lipstick to brighten up your look. :)

Are you a proud owner of the Naked Palette too?
Do share your FOTDs! I'd love to see them :)

"Getting ready to go out moment"

Amanda from 2threads.com contacted me a couple of weeks ago, asking if I would like to share photos of my outfit options and make up choices before a night out. I figured why not since summer is PARTY TIME and partying is one of my favourite past times. I kid. I only enjoy parties with the right company and the right songs - RNB all the way baby!

HomeBar Australia by Smirnoff is also giving away a cocktail gift pack by just sharing my "tips". :)
Can I say no to cocktail gift pack? :P
I will be talking my make up choices instead of fashion since Through Beauty Eyes is more of a beauty blog and I am definitely not a fashion bloggers. Most of " my recommendations" are affordable drugstore brands since thats why Through Beauty Eyes was started in the first place - sharing my tips on how to look good without burning a hole in your pocket,  and also simply because I don't own that many high end products anyways.
We all love summer parties, cocktails by the beach, sun dress and most importantly you DON'T have to lug around a huge ass coat! However, summer also means sweating like a bucket and excessive heat. That being said, unless you're planning to look like the next Lindsay Lohan or Amy Winehouse, the last thing you want is to have your make up crease and smudge halfway during the night.
Very attractive, NOT!

TIP #1 - USE A PRIMER before applying your eyeshadow and foundation (if you have oily skin).

Primer prevents your make up from creasing, nuff said! I ALWAYS make sure I apply an eyeshadow primer before going creative with my make up. It helps the eyeshadow stays longer and also brings out the colour of the eyeshadow.  As for face primer, I have never used one since I have really dry skin. So creasing has never really been a problem for me.

My recommendation:
*Urban Decay Primer Potion (which apparently works WONDERS for many people, but it feels the same as ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer to me)
* ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer ( a WAY cheaper alternative)

(I have heard pretty good reviews about Smashbox and Laura Mercier's face primer. But don't quote me for that as I have never tried them. Do check them out if you're looking for a good one!)

TIP #2: WATERPROOF should be the only word in your dictionary when shopping for mascara and eyeliner. And if you're a falsies*click* person like me (when I go out), REMEMBER to opt for WATERPROOF ones too!

I think this is common sense. Unless it's a Halloween or dress up party with themes like Zombies or Vampires (somewhere along the line), smudged eyeliner/ mascara is a big no no! Try to use gel or liquid liner as they tend to last longer and do not crease as easily as eyeliner pencil.

My recommendation:
* Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Liner
* Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eyeliner Pencil (Review HERE)
* Cover Girl LashBlast Waterproof Mascara
* Maybelline Volume Colossal Waterproof Mascara

TIP #3:  BLEND, blend and BLEND to achieve the perfect smokey eyes!

Smoke It Out *click for details*

I guess thats pretty self explanatory. Sometimes, people tend to forget the power of blending. It soften the looks and no, harsh edges is not sexy!

My recommendation:
* Just any soft blending brush will do such as ELF or Coastal Scents.

TIP #4: DON'T go overboard with bold colours. Pick ONE feature you would like to focus on - bright eyes, neutral lips OR bright lips, neutral eyes.

BOLD LIPS NEUTRAL EYES

Geisha *click for full details*

Viva Glam Cyndi *click for full details*

BOLD EYES NEUTRAL LIPS

 PEACOCK *click for full details*

Exotic Green Smokey Eyes *click for full details*

Simple as ABC. Once again, if its not a halloween or dress up party or unless you're going for an extreme runway look, NEVER leave the house with colourful eyes and a bright red lips. You will risk looking like a clown.

OR

you can always try the neutral pop *click* look!

Neutral Flipside Pop *click for full details*

TIP #5:  Set your foundation/concealer and eyeshadows with pressed powder or translucent powder.

I am pretty sure you don't want your foundation melting away while you are shaking your booty to your all time favourite song. So, don't forget this step!

My recommendation:
Maybelline Dream Matte Powder
Rimmel Matte Pressed Powder

That pretty much sums up my tips for summer party and my "make up choices" ie recommendations.
All my recommendations are actually affordable and inexpensive as well as products that I used and really like! See? You don't need to pay through your throat to look good, although I can do with another 294823082034 lipsticks and 82703247238 MAC eyeshadows. :P

Hi,I am still alive :D

Whaddup everyone?

How's everyone going? It has been a while. Sorry for this short unannounced hiatus. My week was just packed with activities and I could barely find any time to update this little space of mine. But fret not, I have a few post planned for the week or so, so stay tune for more :) I will also reply to all the lovely comments you guys have left :D

This post is going to be a LONG update of what have I been up to in the past 1 week! It's going to pictures heavy and not so much of beauty related stuff.

For those who followed me on twitter would of known that I went for Jason Derulo's concert last Tuesday. I am no longer a concert virgin after 22 years of life! I took over 30 videos at the concert and barely any photos as my good ol' Sony somehow takes better video than photos in the dark! The concert was better expected, although it was JAM PACKED WITH TEENY BOPPERS (a crowd who danced and hyped up for when Tik Tok and Party in the USA is playing but not OMG. Go figure!) I will try to upload a few footage here when my laptop is being less of a bitch!

:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:

On Wednesday, instead of running at the Centennial Park for the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge which I signed up for, I attended Nuffnang's Christmas Party @ Bavarian Beer Cafe instead! LOL. So much for being healthy and fit! In my defense, it was raining cats and dogs that arvo!

That explains my somewhat "simple" make up cos I thought I was going to run instead of meeting new people. At least my new Cancer Council Australia Lipstick in Aztec Berry did brighten my otherwise dull look.

Oh hi there, Janice!

Sarah, Jialin and Yours truly (in her awkward pose and YUMMY lychee beer)

It was great meeting other bloggers over delicious German beer and bartender. Good to know that other bloggers share the same passion for alcohol too LOL. We should all form our very own Alcoholic Antonymous Meeting. :P Bar tab in Bavarian Beer Cafe also means that my little promise to stay away from alcohol after Melbourne Cup fails.=.="

The rest proceeded to Masuya after the party as there was certainly not enough food but I decided to go home as I live in the hood. Late night on the train + Alcohol in the system isn't the best combination.

On the very same day, I received my love package from the lovely Claire all the way from Singapore!

Here are the generous goodies she sent me! :)

Gypsy Lashes and Darkness Falsies (which I absolute LOVE btw!)

MAC Mineralized Eyeshadow in Play on Plums

Urban Decay Primer Potion sample and Etude House Total Age Repair sample

Kate Gel Eye Shadows!

I. Can't. Wait. To. Try. Them. Goodies! Let me know if you guys want a detailed review on this products :)

ALSO,

Fun Fact : Claire is like my provider and only source of Urban Decay products LOL. I got my oh-so-wonderful Alice in the Wonderland palette from her early this year too!

Due to my constant "OMG Naked Palette on twitter", Claire offered to get one for me and she will send it along with the love package. Thanks so much babe!!!!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY NAKED PALETTE!

Orgasm on a palette!

You have probably seen a zillion swatches from the Naked palette so I will pass with the swatches this time.

Look at how pretty and pigmented these colours are!!!

More FOTDs using the Naked palette soon!!! :)

This is just a random photo of my 10 bucks Wagyu Burger I had for lunch on Friday. I was never really a fan of beef until recently ( I blame it on peer pressure LOL). This juicy, succulent piece of meat is beyond awesome! Beef lover, you should definitely give it a try! Although I could definitely do with more greens in my burger! Balance diet yo, kids!

:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:

After a week of rain and more rain, Mother Nature decided to finally share Mister Sunshine with us Sydney Siders with an awesome beach weather on Saturday. I will feel sorry for myself if I stayed at home and not hit the beach!

Bondi Beach
I was actually at Coogee last Saturday but did not take any photos so I decided to use this photo I took a few weeks back when C and I went to Bondi for Sculpture by the Sea. :)

Sun tanning was good although I am still white as a chicken :( and I tried wave catching but the wave was too strong for a noob like me. Ended up swallowing heaps of water *fail*, having sand IN my contacts (had to take it off and wash it with water) *double fail* and had a small scratch on my face *triple fail*. Maybe I should stick with sun bathing. =.="

So, my initial plan was to hang around the beach for 2 hours, then hit the gym for Burlesque Class, head home and get ready for Cindy's birthday dinner. But clearly, I spent much more time at the beach than planned and ended up ditching gym and only had exactly one hour to shower and get ready! I blame it on trackwork and the traffic to Coogee!

Managed to do my make up in 20 minutes and that includes applying falsies.

EOTD using the Darkness falsies from Claire!
Ignored the brows please! I am trying to grow out my brows so I can get it done professionally!

This was taken after I got home in the wee hours and hence no photos of the complete look. :( I even removed my EOS Circle Lenses because I was THAT exhausted after a long day out.
Do comment if you want me to recreate this look with steps or the products used:P

Han Juri & The birthday girl @ Civic Hotel!

Juri & Sarah @ Spice I Am!
Dinner was absolutely divine except the wait was a little too long!

:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:

And FINALLY,

NOTW - China Glaze in Goin' My Way?

Phew! This is a pretty long post.It feels like I have just recited half of my life story here! I hope I did not bore you guys with all the babbling, just thought I might provide an update as to why I have been semi-MIA lately.:) I should really update more often instead of cramming everything into one post =.="

How was your week been? Anything interesting?

Happy Monday (Yeh right!) lovelies :P
