REVIEW: CANCER COUNCIL AUSTRALIA TINTED MOISTURIZER WITH SPF30+

January is coming into an end and so is summer (the "official period" that is). But for Sydney-siders, it feels like summertime has just started as the weather has only been pretty summer-ish (scorching hot with glorious sunshine and MINIMUM humidity) as of late. I reckon summer came late this year and its probably gonna stay till end of March? What do you reckon?

As much as I enjoy sunbaking by the beach, wave catching or any activities that make me tanner, the scorching heat does my head in sometimes, especially for someone who sweats easily...... you get the drift. The last thing I want is, having a faceful of melting make up. Totally.Not.Attractive.At.All.
Thank god, I have always been a fan of BB Cream instead of liquid foundation. The only time I use liquid foundation is when I am going out at night. Even on Fridays (when I *might* go out after work), I tend to mix my liquid foundation with BB Cream for a lighter coverage.

However, BB Cream tend to be a little to heavy for me in this sweltering weather. Hence, I was delighted when Cancer Council Australia contacted me and asked if I wanted to try their range of beauty products, with SPF30+. I chose their tinted moisturiser (just in time for summer) and their lipsticks (which I have already reviewed HERE).

I got Roberta to send me both Light Beige and Medium Beige as I wasn't sure which one suited my skin tone best. I was using Light Beige for about a month prior to December and Medium Beige since then as I am way tanner now. :)

Just a couple of illustrations before I go further into the reviews:

NAKED FACE with moisturiser only.

AFTER tinted moisturizer AND concealer & pressed powder

WHAT I THINK ABOUT THE PRODUCT?

Coverage (3/5) :
Remember my Etude House BB Cream review in which I mentioned one of the reasons I love my BB cream is because it feels light on my skin? Well, the Cancer Council Australia Tinted Moisturizer beats that when it comes to light-weightness. That being said, it provides very sheer coverage - which in my opinion, is probably not enough to cover blemishes and all. My freckles are SO much more visible when I have this on instead of BB Cream. But oh well, summer and freckles goes well together righhttttttt? Albeit the coverage is anything but full, the light-weightness is also the reason why this product has became a summer staple for me.

Staying power (4/5):
The staying power for this particular tinted moisturizer is average. What do I mean by average? My face make up did stay on all day when I am at work, before I hit the gym, sweating buckets.(That's from 7 in the morning to 5 in the evening, which makes it 9 hours :D) I don't know if it's a good thing that I sweat easily. Actually scrap that. Although sweating is a form of "detoxing" (apparently), I don't like the fact that I start sweating when we are doing warm up and when I am actually exercising, my skin is pretty much drenched. (if that's even possible). So, with the constant sweat-wiping throughout a 2-hour-workout, my face make up is pretty much gone. As I mentioned, the formula is REALLY light, so you can now remove the image of me having a faceful of melting tinted moisturizer. =) Do keep in mind though, as this tinted moisturizer has SPF 30+ it does feel a little oily/sticky when applied, so it might crease for those of you who have oily skin.

I would usually apply my BB Cream or Dermablend Cream on a Friday night when I know I am going to stay back for Friday night drinks (which is pretty much weekly =P) and head out after. Just because I wanna look a little more flawless than usual.

Price (5/5):
Pricing at RRP $12.95, it is definitely reasonable and affordable for Australian Standard. And a tube will probably last you for at least 3 months. Also, you are able to skip the sunscreen if you're lazy as the product comes with SPF30+. That saves you some pennies for not having to purchase an additional sunscreen.  ( However, I still apply a layer of sunscreen with SPF50+ prior to applying my tinted moisturiser as I get freckles easily and although freckles is deemed to be "cute" to most people, the last thing I want is to have a faceful of freckles.)

Will I recommend you?

Yes if you are looking for something light and don't need full coverage.
No if you are looking for something with high coverage and super long staying power. Also, tinted moisturizer is not something you would go for if you are going for the flawless look.

Will I repurchase?
Definitely yes. But that will probably be next summer as I am pretty sure my tube is enough to last me to winter. And winter is BB cream time. :)

ILLAMASQUA - THROB COLLECTION

Cult British Beauty Brand Illamasqua invites you to step into a world where your heart will race and your pulse quicken.
Inspired by your Alter Ego's inner depths of desire, and in celebration of Saint Valentine,
the new Throb COllection consists of three new Nail Vanish shades.

Leave your mark with Illamasqua's bold, rich, vibrant colours.

'Throb’ is a powerful red Nail Varnish, the colour of blood spilled by desperate, rejected lovers;
‘Load’ is a rich, cream coating for the nails; and
the midnight matt finish of ‘Scorn’ is a deep statement of obsession.

The Throb collection is available for pre-order now from Illamasqua counters at Myer nationally.

Without a doubt, 'Throb’ is definitely the first colour that caught my attention - in terms of name and the feel behind the name. However, I reckon ‘Scorn’ will be a pretty interesting colour as I have never owned any matte black polishes.

Which is your favourite out of the three colours from the Throb Collection?

Quick FOTD - Mad Men

Whaddup everyone? :)

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far! Weather in Sydney this weekend is lovely, sitting on high 20s - sunny but not too hot. It was quite a shame that I was being a sloth all day and staying in door yesterday - the only time I was out in the sun was to hang my clothes and keep them later. =.=" I have some errands to run today and hopefully, I could be bothered to track to the beach... or maybe I will just tan at Hyde Park while "figuring out life". =.=" (I swear I am going through quarter-life crisis now where I have been thinking and trying to "sort out" what I wanna do in life. Not cool, kids.)

This is gonna be a quick post about the "New Year New You" - Mad Men themed party organised by Vclub - the gym I go to. :)

Let's just say I am not very creative when it comes to dress-up party, and there's no exception this time too.  Bubble, floral-y dress is not really my cup of tea, so the closest I could get was red lips. :)

My Violet EOS Lenses from MUKUCHU
(This is the closest eye shot I got from the night =.=")

I used my new Wet and Wild Palette in Vanity (which is my current FAVOURITE!) I got from my swap with the lovely Gwen. ( I will blog about our swaps soon and also about how I got swap lifted on my VERY first swap. Am glad that there are still trustworthy people in the beauty community.)

FOTD

I am used Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lip Liner in Red, Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Alarm and MAC Lipglass in Cyndi to get this PUR-FECT red lips. <3

Pre- drinks at Haymarket Hotel

My outfit that day was a little MEH, definitely not something I will wear out on a normal night out. I was just trying (very hard, may I add) to fit in the theme. =.="

My Hip Hop & Burlesque instructor - Michelle!

The night was pretty boring at the start but it definitely did get better later of the night. But, I think I am getting a little too old for booze-ing and partying all weekend. =/ Gonna start a healthier lifestyle.... soon. :)

I am definitely more of an eye make up person but I am actually kinda liking this whole statement, red lips look. Might consider wearing it out more often. :)

Are you a fan of red lips? What is your favourite red lipstick?

Have a great weekend, lovelies!

ASIA TRIP HAUL PART 2 - MALAYSIA :)

HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY to my Australian Readers!!!! :)

Having a day off in mid week is just exactly what I needed! Started the day with Pad Thai (Guilty as charged, but hey I had a 2 hours gyming session the day before!), then headed to Bondi for a good tanning session and wave catching (I just wanna get slightly darker and I am set :P) and finished the day off with half a litre of cold German mango beer @ Bavarian Beer Cafe. What a friggin' awesome day it was!

This is my PART 2 of my ASIA HAUL post - stuff I got from Malaysia. [Click HERE for Part 1 - Singapore Haul] I didn't buy that much make up in Malaysia as I barely had enough time. Instead, I shop for "necessities" like work clothes and more clothes. Lol.

MALAYSIA HAUL

Here are a couple of stuff I got from MAC, not much as I was trying to resist myself not to purchase my 237472937423th lipstick although they were way cheaper than Australia. I reckon I have done a pretty good job, albeit I did kinda regret it now. =.="

MAC

MAC LET ME POP PAINT POT from MAC Cham Tale's collection.
I have been using this daily along with my Illamasqua Powdered Metal in Ether as all over the lid colour (FOTD post HERE) as I try to keep my make up as simple as possible thanks to the sweltering weather here in Sydney.

MAC Viva Glam Lipglass in Cyndi which I have always wanted! I am so glad I waited till Malaysia as I paid $20 instead of $35! Make me k
inda wanna kick myself for not buying more lipsticks, now that I think about it. Adeline, you have enough lipsticks!

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Medium

SHU UEMURE

I also bought the SHU UEMURE eyebrow pencil in Hard 9 after I got my eyebrows done. :)

ETUDE HOUSE

For those of you who don't know, I am a HUGE Etude House fan! They have the CUTEST packaging in PINK and they are reasonably priced! They are always having sales too! :)
Here are a few stuff that I got from Etude House:

ETUDE HOUSE PETITE DARLING EYE SHADOWS - The names come in Korean and I speak no Korean! LOL.

Although I am not really a green person, this green caught my eyes the moment I stepped into Etude House and I knew I had to get it! As for the taupe and white eyeshadows, one can't have too many neutrals right? =P

As you can see, the colours pay off is really great and they are really pigmented!

Eyeliner brush and multi-purpose eyeshadow brush.

Etude House Exfoliator from the Moistful range. I have tried several exfoliator but I find myself coming back to this one all the time. (I will do a comparison between different exfoliators, sometime soon. :D) This is my second tube btw :)

RANDOM DRUGSTORE PRODUCTS

I swear I went into Watsons Malaysia and came out with RM200 (approximately AUD70) worth of stuff but I realised they aren't that many stuff when I was taking photos for this post!

Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner - my HG (and only) eyeliner that I have been using for the past one year. I am almost hitting pan on my second tub now.

Maybelline Magnum Volum Express Waterproof Mascara - I'd choose this over Colossal anytime.

KATE REFLECT MIRROR EYES IN PU-2

I bought this because of the good reviews about several Kate products but this trio is definitely a huge disappointment. I wore this to work and the inner corner of my lid creased within an hour (and that's WITH primer). Granted, my eyes were watery that day. But even then, most of my other shadows are able to withstand my watery eyes for a good couple of hours before it creased. And even then, it is not as visible as this. Also, the colours aren't that pigmented so that's a huge no for me as I am all for pigmented products.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST,

Random, "kawaii" hairclips.

I got these clips for a couple of my blog-pals as they are into the whole gyaru, kawaii stuff. :) And the fushia pink clip with diamantes on the left is for an upcoming surprise that I have for my readers. :P

This sums up my Asia Trip haul posts! (Click HERE for Part 1 :D) I hope you guys enjoyed my haul posts as much as I enjoy doing them.

Do let me know if you want me to do a detailed review on any of these products. :)

ASIA TRIP HAUL PART 1 - SINGAPORE :)

Hello lovelies!!

How was your weekend? Mine was awesome while it lasted and now it's back to work again! Weather was absolutely glorious for the first time all summer and yours truly managed to FINALLY got herself tanned yesterday and maybe slightly burnt. Lol. I had the usual Friday night drinks with the crew and attended Vclub (my gym) New Year - Mad Men themed party on Saturday. Will post some photos from the party once I got hold of the ones from my friend's camera. =)

What did YOU get up to during the weekend? :D

ANYHOOS,

my long awaited Singapore-Malaysia haul post is HERE alas! It has almost been a month since I got back! I will separate the stuff I got from Singapore and Malaysia as some stuff are only available in Singapore and it's too long to put them all in one post!

Did I mention how much I LOVE WATSONS Singapore? (It's equivalent to Priceline in Australia and Walmart in the States.) My sisters think I am weird for wanting to go in every Watsons I saw LOL They have SO MANY awesome Asian brands like Canmake, Skin 79, Kate, Liese, Palty, Essentials and the list goes on!

SINGAPORE HAUL

I got a couple of Essentials stuff  (and MANY other stuff lol) from WATSONS as I have heard heaps of good reviews about them in the past. And after all the heating I have done to my hair, I really should be showing my hair more TLC.

L: Essentials Anti Frizz Serum
R: Essentials Nourishing Care Lotion

I barely touched the Anti Frizz Serum as I have recently chemically straightened my hair and they are still nice and non-frizzy. I do however, apply the Nourishing Care Lotion after I wash my hair each time.

Essentials Ultra Honey & Shea Butter Hair Mask

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this product SO FREAKIN' MUCH!!! If you followed me on twitter, you would of seen the random raves I had about this product!

This is my new HG hair mask and I definitely swear by it! It leaves my hair SUPER soft and smooth after using it. I have been using it every 2 days as my ends are pretty bad at the moment. I wish I stocked up more on this hair mask!

BIORE Make Up Remover Wipes - To be honest, I reckon all make up remover wipes are pretty similar. The genius me forgotten to put in my make up remover before I left for the airport because I had shitloads of one too many drinks during my Christmas Party the day before and I really needed one. And since XiaXue raved about this product so much, I decided to give it a go!

I bought this Rimmel Lycra Pro Professional Finish Nail Polish because my Leopard Printed Nail Wrap was peeling and for those of you who don't already know, I can't stand unpainted nails. So there you go!

CANMAKE Crack Lac Nail - which created this awesome "nail art" in less than 15 minutes with just one generous layer on top of Rimmel Lycra Pro Professional Finish Nail Polish

For full tutorial, click HERE

I really like this Crack Lac thingamajig! I wished I have bought more colours though. :( See what I meant by Singapore's Watsons offers awesome stuff?

DUO Eyelash Adhesive - My HG eyelash glue, nuff said.

CANMAKE Cheeks Powder in PW 19 - My current favourite blush!!! :D
Have I mentioned how much I love CANMAKE products? I wished I hoarded more of them when I was there though =.="

Maybelline Volum' Express Waterproof Mascara - It's Hello Kitty and it's pink, need I say more? :D

LIESE Bubble Hair Color in Milk Tea Brown and Cassis Berry
I bought them because I have seen them around the blogosphere and I can be quite a hoarder like that LOL. I really wanna try Milk Tea Brown but my current hair colour is pretty dark and I am still abit iffy about the whole hair dye thing because the last time I dyed my hair with the most gorgeous mahogany colour, I had the worst allergic reaction. (Think: deformed face, swollen eyes and face, "burnt" scalps". Yes, it was that bad that I needed steroids.) We shall see about that...

SEPHORA is definitely the place I was most looking forward to visit, after Marina Bay Sands and Universal Studio of course. For those of you who don't already know, we don't have SEPHORA here in the land down under. =.=" Even if we do, I am pretty sure the price will be ridiculously inflated too.

I was expecting to go crazy in SEPHORA but only managed to grab 3 stuff, way below my expectation LOL.
URBAN DECAY - THE BLACK PALETTE!

I was actually debating between this one and their Limited Edition NYC Palette but there are 2 very similar colours in that palette and I doubt I will even use it and thought this Black Palette looks pretty good too, and well, not as main stream as the NYC Palette. (Although I doubt I will use this as often as my Naked Palette because it's just too pretty to be used! )

Look at how pretty these colours are! And it comes with a travel size primer and a full size Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On in Zero (which found its way back to my every-day must haves!)

SEPHORA Mineral Foundation Compact - I bought this simply because I wanted to try a "Sephora" brand make up LOL. I was on a lipstick ban (which I kinda regretted not buying now BOO!) at that time and I wasn't really looking for eyeliners or eyeshadows so yeh.

The last item I got from SEPHORA was Soap & Glory's Flake Away Body Scrub! Claire recommended me this product and I gotta say best recommendation ever because I absolutely love it!! I feel so "clean" and refreshed after using it and it smells amazing too!!! I am definitely a sucker for anything that smells good! :)

As for the BENEFIT SOME KIND-A GORGEOUS Foundation Faker, I got it from Raffles City if I wasn't mistaken. I was contemplating about it when I was in SEPHORA as I don't really need another "Foundation" (Tinted moisturizer and BB Cream are my best friends!) But yeh, clearly I gave into temptation. Lol.

That pretty much sums up the Make Up I bought from Singapore! I LOVE SINGAPORE's shopping!  I bought a couple of shoes and a bag from Charles & Keith and Steve Madden too and some other random stuff too.

Let me know if you want a detailed review of any of these products. :) Have you tried any of these products? Any favourites?

ASIA TRIP HAUL Part 2 - Malaysia is coming up soon!!! It took me ages to have this post up, so the next one is probably in the next couple of days. STAY TUNE!

A

NOTW - LE CRACK NAILS FT CANMAKE CRACK LAC NAIL POLISH

Hey lovelies!!!

How's your week been so far?

Work has been a drag for me this week and I am so glad Wednesday is over and 2 more days to the weekend! I have a gazillion things to cross up my to-do-list yet I have so little time. I really gotta reorganise everything - my time, my priorities, my life pretty much in general! I am also trying to get back to regular posting since I have HEAPS of backlogged posts that are yet to be posted.

Anyways, enough of my random ramblings.

I am back from my Singapore-Malaysia-trip for almost 3 weeks now (talk about how fast time flies aye) and my haul post is still "coming soon". But fret not dolls, it IS coming soon cos I have just finished watermarking those photos. I TRIED making a haul video but clearly failed big time cos it is extremely awkward trying to speak to the camera. Like seriously. So, I guess a haul post will do for now. =)

Here is just a preview of what I purchased from Singapore and Malaysia:

(As opposed to the usual all-products-in-one-picture-preview, I decided to be a little different this time by previewing the final result of using a couple of products from my haul =P)

LE CRACK NAILS!!!!

I know it looks like it takes ALOT of effort to achieve this nails but honestly, it took me no more than 15 minutes for both hands. (Gotta thank my HG Dry Fast Top Coat by Seche Vite for that too!)

So, how did I achieve this?

STEP 1: APPLY TWO COATS OF YOUR FAVOURITE BARBIE PINK NAIL POLISH.
I am using Rimmel's Lycra PRO Professional Finish in Urban Princess.

STEP 2: APPLY A GENEROUS LAYER OF CANMAKE CRACK LAC NAIL

I know CANMAKE is not a brand that you can find anywhere, especially in Australia or the States. Fret not, But do try looking around online and you might be able to find it. I know A Pop of Kawaii does carry a lot of Canmake stuff but I am pretty sure they haven't brought in the Crack Lac Nail series yet. But I will let you get guys know for sure when it does! :)

Katy Perry for OPI collection does carry the Black Shatter Top Coat too but I am not sure when will it be released in Australia. :(  And unfortunately it only comes in black. So, if you are looking for colours, you should probably go for Canmake as they have 3-4 different colours in their Crack Lac Range.

STEP 3: WAIT FOR 30 SECONDS - 1 MINUTE BEFORE APPLYING A LAYER OF DRY FAST TOP COAT.
I used Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

And VOILA!!!!

It is THAT simple :) People at work were amazed when I told them how easy it was to get these nails! :P
And you don't have to use barbie pink as the base colour, any colour that tickles your fancy will do. :)

Let me know if you have tried something similar. :) I'd love to check it out!!

:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:

Just a quick question before I end this post,

Does any of you have acne - prone skin?
And for those of you who does, have you heard/ tried Proactiv products?

I have a little something for one lucky reader of mine - more details in the next post.

FOTD - Simple & Easy Summer Look ft Illamasqua Powdered Metal in Ether & NOTW - Le Crack Nails

It has been a while since I last posted a FOTD post, and since I have been pretty much bombarding this blog with my Malaysia-Singapore trip posts, I figured its good to get some make-up-related-posts kickin'.

Before I get into that, GUESS WHO'S THE PROUD OWNER OF THIS SLEEK, GORGEOUS BABY NAMED MAC BOOK PRO?????

YEAP, I got it yesterday after whinging about my shit ASUS for a gazillion years of whinging. My credit card bill probably wouldn't be as pleasant (think about those LEVIS jeans I bought in Malaysia and my CA fees that costs 1k), but hey, it's an investment and future Adeline will thank me! :)

I am using it for less than 24 hours and I am already in love with it! :) Although it still takes some time to get used to the whole MAC.

So, it's meant to be the peak of summer and I should be out tanning whenever I am not working. But I guess it's not the case for the Australians this year. Weather in Sydney has been anything but sunny, in fact it has been VERY humid every since I got back, with a few exception hours of somewhat sunny weather. And my prayers are with the residents in Queensland, let's hope their darkest days are long gone.

ANYWAYS, my point is - humid weather means melting face disregarding the fact that I don't have an oily face just because I sweat easily *GROSS I KNOW* Hence, I have been trying to keep my make up
minimal like my "Summer Favourite FOTD". And yesterday, I decided to use my favourite Illamasqua Powdered Metal in Ether as an all over the lid colour, with winged liner. :)

I added some  au naturale falsies because I feel my lovely falsies have been greatly ignored as I don't really have much occasions to wear them - I don't wear them to work, except some Fridays or work functions. And on weekends, I rarely go out at night anymore and I usually put on falsies then. So yeap, an au naturale falsies that doesn't look to over the top! :)

Look at how GORGEOUS Ether is! <3 It works perfectly as an all over the lid colour too!

And I paired it with my Magic Geo Lenses from CircleLensAu. This lenses doesn't look that obvious without make up (I will do a more detailed post on that soon) as it doesn't enlarge your eyes, but it blends in well when you have make up on. :P

On my EYES
MAC Paint Pot in Let Me Pop (MAC Cham Tale collection)
Illamasqua Powdered Metal in Ether (all over the lid)
Etude House Darling Petite Single Eyeshadow in White? (Browbone)
Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Eyeliner in Black (Upper Lash Line)
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil in Zero (Lower Lash Line)
Darkness Falsies
Maybelline Volume Express Cat Eye Hello Kitty Mascara
Shu Uemura Eye Brow Pencil in Hard 9

On my FACE
Elisha Coy BB Cream
Sephora Mineral Foundation Compact
Garnier Anti Dark Circles Roll On in Light
Illamasqua Powdered Metal in Ether
MAC MSF in Stereo Rose
Millani Sunset Duo in Sunset City

On my LIPS
MAC Lipstick in Bubblegum

I wanted to pair the look with my current favourite lipstick - MAC Shy Girl but Bubblegum has been ignored for quite some time too. I am trying to use up some of my neglected - babies from my make up stash. Lol.

Shit lighting, shit photo. Or maybe, it's time for a new camera. Maybe that will be my reward WHEN I pass my first CA module. Sounds like a deal to me, no?

Also, Sunday means pampering day! My new Sunday routine is hair mask, exfoliate my body and face, face mask and repaint my nails to prepare myself for a new week at work! You gotta love yourself, girl!

Naked Face with Formula 10.0.6 Pores BE PURE Skin-Clarifying Mud Mask in Strawberry + Yarrow! And that's after my ESSENTIALS Ultra Honey and Shea Butter Hair Mask (WHICH IS ABSOLUTE LOVE! <3)

NOTW - Le Crack Nails using Rimmel Lycra Pro in Urban Princess and Canmake Crack Lac Nail in CL03.

That's all for now lovelies. Gotta get ready for work now!!! (Yes, I do blog in the morning, usually during breakkie, before getting ready for work. I am a tank like this LOL)

Have a great week everyone!!! <3

XOXO,
A
