OUTFIT OF THE DAY: ACCESSORIZED

Happy hump days!
I could so do with some mid week bubbly time! Who's with me? =P

I am not sure about you, but I tend to "dress up" slightly on Fridays - be it accessories, a "dressier" piece of clothing or even a more sultry make up look. To me, the word "Friday" also act as a double agent for sneaky drink at lunch, after work drinks which may potentially lead to some shenanigans with all the dancing happenin'.

Instead of sipping a glass of Sauvignon Blanc #LikeAClassyLady at your favourite bar in your Monday-Thursday, prim and proper and maybe a tad boring corporate wear, why not spice up your outfit a little with some accessories?

Here's a breakdown of what I wore last Friday:

Rose Statement Necklace: EQUIP / Stone Ring:EQUIP / Spiral & Wing rings: EQUIP /Pink Wrist Belt: SPORTS GIRL

Never underestimate what a simple but elegant statement necklace can do to your otherwise casual/dull outfit.

 See what I mean?

My dress would have looked plain and somewhat casual without the statement necklace! In fact, I had quite a few colleagues wondering if I had a special event that night as they reckon I was "pretty dressed up". In fact, this is one of my more "couldn't be bothered" Friday outfits.

Dress: Dotti/ Maroon platforms: ZU/ Pea Coat: ASOS / Belt: Forecast/ Rings: Equip/ Wrist Belt: Sports Girl

FOTD: Lancome Rouge In Love Lipstick is mad love <3

Do you "dress up" a little for work on Friday too?
Or are you one of the less lazy ones around who change after work?
What's your current favourite piece of accessories?

Hope you lovelies are having a great week so far!!

PS: Apologies for the poor quality photos. All photos were taken using my humble iPhone 4S.

XOXO.

SWATCHES & REVIEW: LANCOME ROUGE IN LOVE - 163M

Lancome Rouge In Love and the gorgeous Emma Watsons
Love at first sight - that sounds about right when it comes to my relationship with Lancome's Rouge In Love lipstick.

Lancome Rouge In Love - 163M
"An ultra-light texture for endless tailor-made looks that take you from day to night. Rouge In Love is like a second skin that satisfies your every desiere. In short: love at first sight."

Lancome Rouge In Love - 163M (WITH FLASH)
With 21 gorgeous shades available, Lancome claims that Rouge In Love is as comforting as a balm, as colourful as lipstick, as radiant as mirror.... Lips feel smooth and soft thanks to the nourishing and repairing oils that provide hydration for up to 6 hours with striking shine.

Lancome Rouge In Love - 163M (NATURAL LIGHT)

What I think about this baby?
Does it live up to what Lancome claimed to be?

It hit right on the spot. (no pun intended =P ).

It looks matte on the tube, but is extremely moisturising when applied on the lips. Lasting power is beyond amazing, as tested by yours truly (you will find out why very shortly). Not to mention, extra brownie points for the super chic and sleek packaging!

DEFINITELY LOVIN IT!

Lancome Rouge In Love pretty much covers everything you can ask for in a lipstick!

However, if you really want me to pick a bone in this, I would have to say its "numbering system". Whilst I love my numbers (like any other accountants duh), numbers and classifying does not go well together. It's so much easier remembering names like RedHotDamn or CherryPop rather than 351B or 377N. AND, maybe the price tag as $45 is pretty steep for a lipstick. I am sure many of you are on the same page as me on this.

I think I have done enough talking and babbling and let the swatches and photos do the explaining now, shall we?

With FLASH
Natural Light
For some reasons, the colour turned out to be quite different under natural light and with flash. In this instance, the one with flash is definitely way more true to the actual colour.

As can be seen from the swatches above, 163M is a bright red colour with a coral undertone. It's a gorgeous combination of bloody red and coral in my opinion. The perfect pick-me-up lipstick in this deary cold weather!

With the insanely chilly weather the past couple of days here in Sydney, I have been opting for bright coloured lipsticks to "pick me up" and make myself feel more positive at the start of the day. No prize for guessing which lipstick has been frequently reached out as of late. =P

After going through a "smokey look" phase (FOTD and how-to HERE) , I am back to neutral eyes and bright bold lip colours again.  Instead of the typical taupe/ champagne lid colour, I replaced it with this lovely duo chrome peach shade from my INGLOT eyeshadow palette.

A FOTD post with this eye look coming up very soon as I have been lovin' this eye + lips combination lately (which happens to be my daily FOTD as of late), so stay tune for that ladies!

Lancome Rouge In Love is retailing at RRP $45 from 26 March 2012 onwards at MYER and David Jones stores and selected pharmacies.

Have you tried Rouge In Love lipsticks?
Is 163M your cup of tea?

FOTD & TIPS: Simple tricks to create a "done up" look!

Whats up buttercups?

It has been a while since I last updated this humble space of mine. As some of you may already know, I have been living in a sea of tax textbooks, slaving away for my CA last week. Thank god, it is now over , for now.

Hence, ThroughBeautyEyes.Com will be back and active again. No more solely Photolog and Instagram posts. :)

:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:

Have a party to attend but in a hurry? Wanna rock your favourite Kim Kardashian's smokey eyes but running out of time. Fret not, here are a few tips on how to create a "cheating" eye make up that looks more done up than it actually is.

You can play around with different eyeshadows and lipsticks to look like you have created different look everyday but the basic techniques are the same!

Step 1: After applying an eyeshadow primer, apply a cream shadow which matches the eyeshadow colour you will be using later. It helps the eyeshadow stays better and makes it more vibrant. I used Bloom Eye Crayon in Taupe. Chanel D'Ombre in Illusoire is a my other to-go-for cream shadow.

Step 2: Apply a dark-based eyeshadow such as taupe, grey, dark purple... anything that gives you the smokey effect all over your lid. I used my INGOT taupe e/s here but Minx from Smashbox Girls On Film Palette (swatched and reviewed) is also my other all-time favourite. You may pat on extra eyeshadow on the outer corner to create a more smokey effect. Don't forget to blend away the harsh edges!

Step 3: Line the lower lashline with a waterproof pencil liner. The last thing you want is have your eyeliner smudging halfway through the day. My HG eyeliner pencil is Milani Liquif'eye Eyeliner Pencil in Black

Step 4: Set the eyeliner with a black eyeshadow. My favourite combination now is Milani Liquif'eye Eyeliner Pencil and the black eyeshadow from NVEY ECO Eyeshadow Palette
Not only does this step help your eyeliner stay in place, it softens the look and makes it smokier too. Double bingo!

Step 5: Apply waterproof liquid liner on your upper lashline. Don't forget to wing it. I am using Maybelline Hyper Sharp Liner in Black.

Final step - Apply generous coats of your favourite mascara to complete the look. My current favourites which give me those luscious lashes are Australis Voluptulash and Australis Killer Curls

VOILA - the complete look!

Don't forget to put on your favourite coloured contacts/ circle lenses. It does make a difference. I am using EOS J203 Adult Green (reviewed HERE) but EOS G201 Max Pure Gray(reviewed HERE) is also my other favourite when I want to go for the more dolly/Japanese look.

On my FACE
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Soft Nude
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Ivory (as highlighted)
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment Make Up
Hello Kitty Compact Powder in Pashmina Ambre (as bronzer)
ELF Natural Radiance Blusher in Glow
Australis Ready Set Go Finishing Powder

On my LIPS
Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait

As it was just another casual Sunday, I decided to go with a more neutral-toned lips rather than a bold one. But feel free to swap it with a loud fuchsia lip or a bloody red lips if you wish to - whatever that floats your boat.

Another version - using Minx from my Smashbox Palette and MAC Watch Me Shimmer lipstick PLUS falsies :)
This is what I like about make up - there is so much room for creativity - as long as you don't go overboard, mix and match fun times always give you a pretty final result.

Running out of getting-ready time before a night out with the chicas? Here's the wrap up for a few tips that could come in handy :P

* Put on some coloured contacts/ circle lenses
*Use darker eyeshadows (swap taupe for grey or dark purple) for a smokier effect
* Smudge your lower lash line
* Coat on LAYERS of mascara (Or you might add on some falsies if you wish)
* Play around with your lipstick collections

What are your cheat-tricks when you are running out of time to get ready?

Have a great week lovelies!!

A

PHOTOLOG: Of #MBFWA and #CAStudyBreak

Howdy everybody! Another gorgeous day in Sydney - it seems like we have been getting the summer days we never had with the abundance of sunshine lately. Shame I don't have much of a chance to enjoy Mr. Sunshine.

If you have been following me on twitter or instagram (@ThroughBeautyEyes), you would have probably came across alot of #CARelatedTweets. Yes, it's that time of the year again where yours truly become a hermit in the name of CA (Chartered Accountant Program) and does nothing but sexing my notes and eating non-stop with zero exercise.

It has been a while since I last updated - #badblogger so just a couple of snippets from the past 2 weeks to keep you posted re my mundane life. But fret not, ThroughBeautyEyes.Com will resume in full force post 8 May 2012 once I take Taxation paper down #likeaboss.
(gotta stop speaking #twitter language!)
